Foreword by Þóra Þórisdóttir:
Guðrún Einarsdóttir is one of Iceland’s most renowned contemporary visual artists. Guðrún has, in her career, created a unique visual world that erupts from natural shapes and wild landscapes. From afar the paintings are striking in their simplicity but when looked closely an enchanting world of complex details opens up. The book covers Guðrún Einarsdóttir career from her first exhibition in 1990 and confirms the wholeness in her creation and the focus she has kept steady through the years.
The book on the work of Guðrún Einarsdóttir is the first in a series on Icelandic contemporary artists that Crymogea, with the support of Dungal art foundation, publishes. The Dungal art foundation chooses the artists who all have in common their strong and precise direction in their art creation and have all created a name for themselves. There is a great need for publications with the work of Icelandic contemporary artists to introduce them to the Icelandic public and their work abroad. Crymogea and Dungal art foundation have set their heart on improving this situation.
The book is designed by Snæfríð Þorsteins, a graphic designer who has received several awards for her design of products, books and shops in companion with Hildigunnur Gunnarsdóttur. The book is printed in Oddi hf., Iceland.
